I’m going to start this post with an apology to my mom for what I’m about to reveal as my new favorite thing.
Sorry, Mom.
I think the only thing that frightens me more than spiders is a sewing machine. Sure, I can set up a blog, run an online shop, homeschool my kids, take care of my husband’s business, but the thought I’ve sitting down in front of a sewing machine scares the bejeebers out of me.
I would like to learn to sew, and I’m not a total stranger to the concept; I did take 4-H sewing in my younger days. I know I could expand my horizons so much more if I could just stitch away-such as the pillow pattern my mom sent me. Bless her heart! (I can say that now, ‘cause I live in the South) I do have intentions of trying to tackle that pattern soon, but in the meantime I’ve discovered Liquid Stitch!
This stuff is awesome!
I used it to sew glue this pillow together to go in my latest bazaar item.
Granted, it was a little sticky in the beginning, and I had to remember which way to apply it so I would have a good looking seam, but I am THRILLED with the way it turned out. It now resides in this kitty bed.
I took a donated wine crate, painted it with black paint, distressed it a tad and stenciled on the Kitty word. The cushion is slightly smaller than I would like it, but I had to make do with the fabric I had.
Ta da! Stay tuned for more reveals in the days to come.
And mom, once again, I’m sorry I had to revert to glue.
P.S. I just discovered that my rusty spring recipe card holder was featured over at Coastal Charm’s Nifty Thrifty Tuesday Party! Thanks, Linda! Be sure and head over to enter her giveaway for a $25 Target gift card to celebrate her 100th linky party.

I have been putting off making a cushion for a dog bed because.... you guessed it.... I can't sew. But hey I can glue with the best of them, so I'll give this a try.

Your kitty is undoubtedly loving the new bed...very cozy and beautifully done. Does this mean no more kitty at the end of your bed? (smile).I am now a follower of your blog and look forward to return visits. I invite you to join me as well on my blog at http://atastefultouch.blogspot.com

Great post! I used to be afraid of sewing too. Having a little girl changed all that though with so many cute things to sew. Sometimes I still scare myself but I just close my eyes and go with it.
ReplyDeleteMy cat so needs a bed like this. I would say both of our cats need a bed like this but sadly, one of them would not fit. He would try. But it wouldn't be pretty.
Cute project--love that red ticking against the black and white--it's cottage perfect for kitty!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Now if only I loved cats . . . hmm. Thanks for linking up at Cowgirl Up! Hope to see you next week!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Amanda
I really love this. I have 3 kitties and they would love it. I'd probably have to make more than one. Now I just have to find a couple of wine crates. I'm visiting via Coastal Charm's Nifty Thrifty Tuesday and just started following you.

That is adorable and how can you go wrong with mattress ticking. Thanks so much for linking up with Cowgirl Up!! I'm an LF follower now.
ReplyDeleteVery fun! I wish my cats would use something like this. But instead they like whatever blanket I've been using or magazines to sleep on.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that the happy little kitty that gets to sleep in this bed will not mind the glue. Maureen.
ReplyDeleteToo Cute!! I love it! Thanks so much for linking up!!
