Fredericksburg Herb Farm

When my children have a birthday, we usually try to do something special for that day. It could be a day spent shopping, a trip to the zoo or a treat of pizza out for dinner.

In December, my daughter celebrated her 15th birthday with lunch at the Fredericksburg Herb Farm. Her choice. She had been there once before and suggested it, not only because it’s out of this world yummy, but because she thought her junk lovin’ mom would enjoy the grounds. She was right.

These are little cabins for rent. Very quaint.

So, before eating, we wandered through the gardens and gift shop. Absolutely beautiful. And peaceful.

There are also farm kitties. The black and white one was waiting on the hood of my car when we went to leave. She wouldn’t budge, even after I started the car. Had to shoo her off.

It was a bit of a blustery day. I can’t wait to visit again when the sun is shining and plants are in full bloom.

We had a pleasant chat with the gardener, Donna Newberry. She has been with the farm for about a year and just by speaking with her, one can tell she loves what she does. She encourages visitors to spend time in the gardens and to pick sprigs of herbs in order to fully experience the scents.

In the gift shop, we were greeted by Wolfie. Don’t let his name scare you. He was the sweetest little guy. Just look at that face!

The restaurant inside was just as gorgeous as the rest of the area. Lots of wood and stone.

Lunch was phenomenal. And dessert, a chocolate mousse, was even more so.

Sorry, no pics of those. They didn’t last long enough.

I saw the pom in the shop, but somehow missed the kitties.
