That’s The Ticket Blog Hop Features

I want to say thank you to all the bloggers that linked up to our first That’s The Ticket Blog Hop! We had a great turnout and there were so many wonderful projects that it was hard to choose who to feature! But since I had to narrow it down, here’s some that especially caught my eye.

Jann from Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson shared her adorable spring tablescape. Love the tackle box with jelly beans and the chalkboard pot.

Tania from Little Vintage Cottage linked up her pallet plate rack tutorial. This rustic piece caught my eye right away!

Laura from Cottage and Broom showed off this yummy looking Hummingbird Cake.

And what about this recipe from Melissa at Number 2 Pencil for Chocolate Chip Cookie in a cup? I’m going to have to try this! I wonder if it would be difficult to make it gluten free?

I want one of these adorable little glass cloches that Sue from Sullivan and Murphy showed off with her spring decorating.

Be sure and stop by the other co-host blogs to check out who they featured

Angie @ Knick of Time

Carrie @ Lovely etc.

Gertie @ The Old Block House

If you were featured, please grab the button from my sidebar to proudly display on your blog!

Folks, We Have a Winner!

I know I’ve been MIA from my blog the last few days, and was supposed to announce a winner of my That’s The Ticket giveaway on Monday, and for that I apologize. Life has been a little busy and I’m playing catch up right now. I’m actually typing this as I sit in the dentist’s office waiting for all of my kids to get their checkups.

Blog Hop Button

I want to thank all of you who linked up to the blog party and left comments to enter the giveaway. Just as a reminder, my prize was $20 credit to my etsy shop.

Blog Hop Party Giveaways-001

To choose the winner, I had my son randomly pick a slip of paper that I had written the individual names on.

So, without further ado, the prize goes to……

Audrey from Timeless Treasures!

I will be highlighting some of my favorite link up projects in the next post.

Thanks so much for joining in!

KISS Linky Party #3: The Hunger Games

Welcome to the third Keep It Simple Saturday linky party! I had a post all planned out to share with you all, but after I saw what my daughter had been working on, I just had to brag on her!

She and I are going to the movies tonight to see The Hunger Games. We usually only go watch a movie when it comes out in the theater if it’s one we really, really want to see. I’m just going to say, “If you haven’t read the books, you need to. Now.” I was hesitant at first and only started reading the first one because Laina asked me to, but then I was hooked! Anyways, onto the KISS project.

Laina created a very simple Hunger Games themed t-shirt, using a black t-shirt from Wal-Mart, some fabric paints from the thrift store, and a stencil she created. She printed out the Mockingjay symbol from the internet, cut it out, glued it to a  piece of cardboard and taped it to the shirt.

100_7482

Sorry, I took the pictures after she had finished, so I had to recreate it.

100_7480

Then she just painted around it.  She used the bright colors to represent Katniss, “the girl on fire.”

100_7481

Doesn’t it look like she created an explosion in the background?

100_7485

I think she did a great job!

100_7484

On to the highlights from last week! If I featured you this week or last, please grab the KISS featured button from my sidebar.

Dolly from Hibiscus House shared her memories of her Grandpa and simple life in the country.

Joann from Life at 2810 shared a project that incorporated only found items and stuff she had on hand. Can’t get much simpler than that!

And finally, Bliss from Bliss Ranch shared how a simple flower keeps memories of her mom alive.

**3/24 8:11pm~party is up and going! Since there was a problem with Linky tools server, this week’s party will go on until midnight on Tuesday!**

Now it’s your turn!

If you choose to use my button in your post as the link back, please make sure you copy the button code and not just the picture.

Here’s the KISS party rules:

Mason Jar Soap Dispenser

For a while now, I have coveted admired the cute little mason jar soap dispensers you see all over the web these days. I thought about trying to make one and finally decided to just get over it and buy one!

I actually did not buy the entire thing, just the lid and pump that was ready to go.

I ordered mine from Heather at Post Road Vintage for a couple of reasons.

  • Hers were the first ones I had stumbled across and remember thinking, “What a cute and clever idea!”
  • I could order just the lid part and could get it with the old-fashioned zinc look at a reasonable price.
  • I follow her blog, she sells on Etsy and she just seems to be a downright pleasant gal.

So once I received my lid, I had to figure out what to put it on. I happened upon a criss-cross patterned, jelly-type mason jar at a yard sale last weekend and knew it would be perfect. Especially since it only cost me a dime!

This adorable dispenser now resides in my laundry room.

Final Bazaar Project

I’m pretty sure this will be my last post on the fundraiser bazaar projects! I don’t think I’ve shown you this one yet, and if I have, I apologize. It’s been hard to keep track of what I’ve shared already!

This little crate started life as one of those wooden cd holders.

100_7192

I gave it a coat of white paint, then went over that with an antiquing medium.

100_7191

Then I printed off the French advertising graphic from The Graphics Fairy, antiqued it and sanded it so it looked like it was peeling.

100_7193

Then I adhered it to the crate with Mod Podge and sanded the entire thing to distress it.

100_7194

Pretty cute.

This might be the last bazaar project I share, but it definitely won’t be the last project I’m working on! I’m starting now to focus on items for my Spring In-Home Sale, so I’ll be showing off some of those soon!

Happy Spring!

God’s Amazing Design

My boys have been very busy with their schoolwork. Connor completed his science book for this year about a month ago, and Blake just finished up his! Does this mean they get science off until next year? No way! They will both continue to read science based books from our reading list and start their next science books early.

One of Blake’s final experiments dealt with pinecones and how wonderfully God designed nature.

He first took a pinecone and soaked it in cold water. Gradually the pinecone closed itself  completely against the cold.

100_7037

Next, he placed the pinecone in a pan and left in the oven at 250 degrees for a couple of hours.

Here’s what happened.

100_7044

It warmed up and opened up. Amazing! I did not know this would happen.

That was a day we both learned something new!

Don’t forget, there’s still time to link up to the That’s The Ticket Blog Hop Party and enter the giveaways!

Keep It Simple Saturday #2

No tips tonight, but I do have something fun to show you! I found this little sign at Homegoods and just had to get it.

Perfect to remind me of my word of the year, simplify.

100_7316

My first party did not have a huge turnout, but hopefully it will build over time. Here’s a couple of highlights.

Wendy from Beautiful Day shares how to relax by enjoying the sky.

My Bazaar Life

That’s what life feels like right now. A little bizarre~or shall I say bazaar~as I’m trying to get projects completed with just a little over two weeks to go until the fundraiser.

I thought I’d get y’all up to date on what I’ve gotten done.

A little cardboard tray that I covered with old dictionary pages. Believe me, it was not pretty before. I think it turned out pretty cute after.

100_7269

100_7268

100_7267

An old wooden calendar base turned into a chalkboard menu.

100_7309

Chipboard letters and rub ons.

100_7311

This iron shelf was spray painted and the wood insert decoupaged with old hymn music sheets.

100_7049

100_7051

And finally, this planter started out hot pink and gold. Ugh. A coat of silver spray paint and a little chandelier stencil makes it totally new.

100_6193

Now I’m off to see what else is hiding in the pile for me to redo!

Thrifty Finds and A Winner!

I had to make an unexpected trip to Austin yesterday to buy work materials for my husband, so on the way I stopped at a little thrift store in Dripping Springs.  My finds of the day were shoes! Three pairs; one for each kiddo. And not just any old tennie shoes, but Converse! The kids were oh so excited, because they were needing an extra pair of knock around shoes. And do you know what I paid for them? Two dollars a piece! Can you believe it???

What are the chances? All in the proper sizes.

100_7292

And in good, wearable condition.

100_7296

Now, on to the giveaway winner. I only had four comments, and actually none of them commented specifically for the giveaway~but I’m giving that wreath away anyhow!

So, the winner, by random number choice of my daughter is…..

Bliss from Bliss Ranch

Congratulations, Bliss!
