My Sale’s Over and An Exciting Announcement

Well, I made it through my Spring Sale on Saturday and am pleased with the turn out. It was not overly crowded, but I had quite a few people and sold a good amount of stuff merchandise.

I snapped several shots of my displays right before I opened the gates, but before I show them off, I have an exciting announcement to make.

Due to the wonderful promotional post concerning my sale by my friend Anne from Fiona and Twig, I have been invited to peddle my wares at a new shop that will be opening this month in Fredericksburg! And what makes it even more fun is that Anne is going to join me in my little room there!

She’s Gonna Blow!

Connor received a volcano kit last November for his birthday and I’ve been terrible about getting it out for him to experiment with. We had a couple of beautiful days here, so his big brother Blake, having experience with the volcano thing, volunteered to help him set it up and erupt it.

First, they had to mix up Plaster of Paris and pour it into the volcano mold. Without properly thinking, I gave them permission to use a mixing bowl. They chose my pancake bowl!

100_7030

Not to fear, we got it clean.

They only managed to plaster some of the gravel.

After the mold was dry, they mixed up the lava.

100_7277

Only it kind of fizzled out.

100_7278

So, I did what any good homeschooling mama would do. I said, “I have something better!”

100_7281

Baking soda and vinegar. We all know what those two do when they get together!

100_7279

100_7280

The boys added red food coloring to make it more “authentic” looking. I think it looks like it’s foaming blood; but whatever makes them happy.

And thar’ she blows.

100_7282

They repeated it until they ran out of baking soda in the box I gave them.

100_7283

This definitely made for two good afternoons of fun!

Thanks, Grandma!

Also, please check out this fun slideshow put together by Karen from A Collective Journal featuring Industrial Vintage Etsy items. My little rusty pair of wheels are included in it! How cool is that?

A Link Party, A Fashion Show & Some Other Random Stuff….

First off, let me give a hearty “Thank You" to everyone who has hopped on board and followed my blog. I appreciate the fact that you not only took the time to read my ramblings, but you became a “follower”, which means you actually liked what you read. Exciting!!

If I calculated it correctly, my follower count is at 93, combining the Google Friends and the Linky Followers. We’re only 7 away from a giveaway and the first official KISS Linky Party! So, if you have some friends who haven’t joined me yet, send ‘em my way! The prize might look something like that barbed wire wreath peeking out from the middle of my header.

Next, guess where I’m going tomorrow night….

(Imagine me asking you this in a sing-songy, nanny, nanny, boo boo voice.)

Can’t guess? Ok, here’s a little hint.

This is going to be a fun and fabulous event. I got a little sneak peek today at Carol Hicks Bolton’s Antiquities all decked out and it is absolutely gorgeous! You can read some of the details about it here on the Magnolia Pearl website. I am thrilled to be able to attend.

I was also featured today on Cindy Adkins’ Whimsical Musings blog. A big thank you to Cindy for mentioning me and showing off my burlap heart wreath.

And finally, a picture of Connor with a giant Mickey Mouse we saw at a thrift store in Kerrville yesterday. This one’s just because I think he’s cute. Connor, not Mickey Mouse. Although, he’s kinda cute, too. If you like rodents.

My New Favorite Thing & Another Bazaar Project Done!

I’m going to start this post with an apology to my mom for what I’m about to reveal as my new favorite thing.

100_6201

Sorry, Mom.

I think the only thing that frightens me more than spiders is a sewing machine. Sure, I can set up a blog, run an online shop, homeschool my kids, take care of my husband’s business, but the thought I’ve sitting down in front of a sewing machine scares the bejeebers out of me.

I would like to learn to sew, and I’m not a total stranger to the concept; I did take 4-H sewing in my younger days. I know I could expand my horizons so much more if I could just stitch away-such as the pillow pattern my mom sent me. Bless her heart! (I can say that now, ‘cause I live in the South) I do have intentions of trying to tackle that pattern soon, but in the meantime I’ve discovered Liquid Stitch!

This stuff is awesome!

I used it to sew glue this pillow together to go in my latest bazaar item.

100_6202

Granted, it was a little sticky in the beginning, and I had to remember which way to apply it so I would have a good looking seam, but I am THRILLED with the way it turned out. It now resides in this kitty bed.

100_6203

I took a donated wine crate, painted it with black paint, distressed it a tad and stenciled on the Kitty word. The cushion is slightly smaller than I would like it, but I had to make do with the fabric I had.

Ta da! Stay tuned for more reveals in the days to come.

And mom, once again, I’m sorry I had to revert to glue.

P.S. I just discovered that my rusty spring recipe card holder was featured over at Coastal Charm’s Nifty Thrifty Tuesday Party! Thanks, Linda! Be sure and head over to enter her giveaway for a $25 Target gift card to celebrate her 100th linky party.

Featured on Binky La Faye’s Blog

I was so excited when I received an email today from Binky Morgan of Binky La Faye in Llano, letting me know she had written a post about my shop and my sale from a couple of weeks ago!

If you are from anywhere around here, you’re probably familiar with Binky La Faye, Objects of Eld.

I had mentioned in this post, that she had attended my sale and was a pleasure to meet. I was in Llano last week with my daughter to do some window shopping on her birthday (more about our great day out later) and stopped in Binky’s shop. All I can say, is lovely!!! I did bring home a snowflake ornament and the vintage music note cards that I used for this project.

So hop on over to her blog and pay her a visit. When you’re through there, check in at her shop site to view her gallery.

Thanks, Binky~it was an honor to be featured!
